We have a new website: At Rotterdam Placenta Lab, we focus on understanding and treating pregnancy-related conditions. Our research uses advanced lab techniques to improve outcomes for mothers and babies. We collaborate with neonatologists to connect placental health to neonatal outcomes, offering a full-picture approach to maternal and neonatal care.
Why Collaboration Matters
Science works best when people work together. By combining expertise, we can solve tough problems faster and make discoveries that matter. At Rotterdam Placenta Lab, we welcome partnerships with students, industry, and researchers to create impactful solutions.

What We Do
Our lab is equipped to study the placenta and its role in pregnancy and neonatal health. Here’s what we offer:
Molecular Biology Tools: Analyzing genes, proteins, and cells.
In Vitro Models: Simulating placental environments.
Organoids and Placenta Explants: Creating systems that mimic placental function.
Mulvany Myograph: Measuring vascular function in placental tissues.
Patient Data: We have large datasets of patients with or without preeclampsia to uncover trends and risks.
Improving Treatments and Reducing Animal Testing
We develop better treatments for pregnant women while cutting down on animal testing. By using advanced in vitro models, our research is more accurate, ethical, and faster to apply in real-world settings.
Linking Placenta and Neonatal Health
We work closely with neonatologists to study how placental health affects newborns. This helps us address issues like preterm birth and growth restrictions and improve outcomes for both mothers and babies.
Researching Pregnancy Conditions
Our work targets serious conditions like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and fetal growth problems. We focus on understanding these issues and finding solutions that make a real difference.
Join Us
We’re looking for students, researchers, and industry partners to collaborate with us. Together, we can push the boundaries of placental and neonatal science.
